Executive Director Position

Sewickley Valley Historical Society is seeking applicants for the position of Executive Director.  Under the direction of the Board of Directors of the Society, the Executive Director will manage the affairs of the Society, supervise paid and volunteer staff, coordinate events and activities of the Society and generally help the Board grow its non-profit organization and programs. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Directs the daily operations of the Society, including the supervision of paid staff and volunteers.
  • Oversees the Society's archives, collections and exhibits.
  • Assists the Board with budget preparation and implementation.
  • Explores opportunities for growing and developing new revenue streams.
  • Assists in the selection, evaluation, and orientation of new employees and volunteers.
  • Cultivates professional relationships with community leaders and organizations for the purpose of increased awareness of and involvement in the Society.
  • Actively promotes the Society's programs, projects, and fundraisers.
  • Performs a variety of public relations activities, including presentations to various community groups.
  • Directs the publication of the Society's newsletter, Signals.
  • Attends Board meetings as well as approved seminars, workshops, & training related to the Society's administration.                                                                                          
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates enthusiasm for history and subscribes to the purpose of the Society, which is to promote interest in and to record, collect, preserve and document the history of the Sewickley Valley.

This position is a part-time position with an hourly standard of 15-20 hours per week. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.  The anticipated start date of this position is January 2018.
